Embrace Boudoir and what it means to me

Having started with newborn and maternity photography, you may be wondering why the change of focus with boudoir.

As a lot of you are aware by now, I first started boudoir as a way to learn to embrace my own body. I set my camera up on a tripod, and did my very first boudoir selfie session in my bedroom. While I am proud of my body and all it’s achieved, there was still that part of me that criticised my post baby body; the stretch marks and loose skin, the deflated breasts, the surgery scars. Going even deeper, the lies that I’d accepted as a teen, being told ‘she’s pretty until she turns around’ needed to be dismantled.

After going through that process, I can honestly say I am at peace with my body. It may not be ‘perfect’, but it is beautiful and powerful: it has survived multiple surgeries, overcome a decade of chronic pain and more surgery, grown and birthed three amazing little girls, and at nearly 40, is still able to swing me around the fitness pole, or chase after my kiddos at the park. Plus my hubby seems to like it!

Soon after, a client asked me to do a boudoir session for her fiancé, and I ended up falling in love with taking women through that same process - providing a different viewpoint for these ladies, and helping women learn to embrace their own body and sensuality, and the boudoir arm of my business was formed.

I have been thinking hard for a long time now about the direction I take my business. My business has always been about female empowerment, whether that was through my pilates business or my newborn and maternity photography business, my driving passion has always been to uplift and empower the women around me to embrace themselves as they are, at every stage of life.

I have made the decision to focus on the boudoir side of my business. I love empowering women, I love the facebook community we have built in my VIP group, and I love taking women through this experience I offer, and have had such great feedback from the ladies I’ve photographed. I want to continue doing this, without the distraction of essentially running multiple businesses. By focusing on just the one service, I can dedicate my resources and attention to my boudoir photography so I am always giving my all to my clients, and they can continue to love their sessions.

To celebrate, I decided to change my business name and branding to reflect this renewed focus. Every time someone asks me why I do what I do, I say ‘It’s about learning to Embrace ourselves…’ so it seemed fitting to change my business name to Embrace Boudoir. I am super excited about this, and it’s certainly less of a mouthful to type into google for anyone trying to find me!

Thank you to you all who have supported me in this journey. I’m so excited to see where it takes us.
